Colief® Infant Drops
Colief® Infant Drops aids digestion of lactose in milk in a baby temporarily unable to produce sufficient lactase to fully digest the lactose. For the first few months of life, some babies are temporarily unable to fully break down lactose, a complex sugar that is found in both breast and formula milk. As a result, undigested lactose passes through the baby’s digestive system and is absorbed by naturally present bacteria creating acid and gas in the process. Colief® Infant Drops reduces the amount of lactose in milk to make it more suitable for digestion and milk treated by Colief® helps to reduce the amount of undigested lactose available to the natural bacteria.
The lactase in Colief® Infant Drops is a natural enzyme which breaks down the lactose in the milk by up to 70%, aiding digestion and reducing the hours of crying. A few drops are simply added to the milk before each feeding until the baby is three to four months old, by which time the symptoms should have disappeared. Colief®, the first lactase enzyme drops developed specifically for babies, has been trusted by mums in UK and Ireland for more than 20 years.
